The Robey Theater in Spencer has been showing movies every weekend for the past 100 years and it claims the mantle of the oldest continuously-running movie theater in America. The Robey celebrated its 100th birthday last weekend with a special screening of Gone with the Wind. The price was a nickel, the same as when the movie opened in 1939.

Reporter Scott Finn was there yesterday and filed this audio postcard. You’ll hear from three people: Aaron Richardson is the 28-year-old owner of the Robey; Jack Parrish of Spencer remembers seeing movies at the Robey before they had sound. And June Miller of Shock saw Gone with the Wind at the Robey with her future husband.
