WV, NY compete for steamboat inventor honors

Members of a Shepherdstown organization based on steamboat inventor James Rumsey are heading to New York State in a couple of weeks to participate in Old Fashioned Steamboat Days.  The festival celebrates the bicentennial of Colonial inventor Robert Fulton’s successful launch of a steam boat on the Hudson River.  For decades, a rivalry between Rumsey and Fulton was kept alive.  Cecelia Mason reports it seems their supporters have finally buried the hatchet.
