The church tradition of line singing

Before there were well-rehearsed choirs and electrified praise bands in Appalachian churches, there was line singing. In line singing, a soloist sings and then invites the congregation to join in with their own time and harmonies. Josh Noah visited a church where line-singing is still practiced.
