Child abuse, neglect cases overwhelm victim advocates

Cases involving abuse and neglect of children are some of the toughest for court systems to handle. These cases are more than a matter of getting a conviction.

The court system must also focus on where to place the children and how to help them overcome their abuse. In many cases judges rely on volunteers called Court Appointed Special Advocates, or CASA. 

In the Northern Panhandle, these CASA volunteers are overwhelmed by an increase in abuse and neglect cases.
