Armstrong firing brings archives concerns to a head

A week and a half ago, the state’s longtime archivist, Fred Armstrong, was fired from his post. The Manchin administration hasn’t given any explanation for the move. The change has focused attention on a long-simmering controversy about plans to move the archives library and replace it with a café and gift shop. History buffs are worried about what the plans mean for the security of the state’s archives.
